What you ought to know about the Eucharist

St. John the evangelist church

St. John The Evangelist is a vibrant, active parish located in beautiful Naples, Florida. The open, contemporary architecture is reflective of the warm, friendly people in the parish. St. John’s, a Vatican II and family-centered parish offers a variety of programs for children, teenagers and adults.

Worshippers from other faith groups come to St. John’s for its openness and spiritual enriching atmosphere. The vision of building a church that would make people feel welcome guided the design of a unique structure where individuals feel encouraged to participate in the Mass.

Parishioners and visitors continue to be captivated by the stone artwork above the altar. The abstract formation represents the shattered stone at the entrance to Christ’s tomb. Looking at the ceiling gives the feeling of security that one might have felt being inside Noah’s ark.

The image created by the intersecting lines of the broken stones forms the sign of the cross. The cross represents the sin of the people and the shattered stones symbolize God’s grace. A belief is mounting about the faces that seem to decorate the stones. These faces are not the result of human design. Can you see them on the image top right on this page? We invite you to visit our church and admire our own little miracle.

Contrasts of rough, unfinished stone and smooth polished elements throughout the church’s interior reinforce the theme of God’s perfection and human imperfection.

Parishioners and interested guests are welcome to participate in the many activities that take place at our Parish Life Center. Everything from concerts by world-class musicians to mission trips to our sister parish in Kingston Jamaica, St. John’s is a place where anyone can feel at home.
Come and join us in building up God’s Kingdom at St. John the Evangelist.
